Emily: Or, What Happened at the Attic
"You are the only friend I have in the world," she would say to her. "Why don’t you say something? Why don’t you speak? Sometimes I’m sure you could, if you would try. It ought to make you try, to know you are the only thing I have. If I were you, I should try. Why don’t you try?"

STORY IS BEST EXPERIENCED IN FULLSCREEN MODE (button on bottom-right corner)
Emily: Or, What Happened at the Attic is a short story made in Twine, retelling (and revising) the events of Burnett's A Little Princess through the perspective of Emily, Sara's doll:
- A linear 7500-word story split into 5 acts (~15-30 minutes read time)
- A dark, psychological reinterpretation of Sara's situation
- A scene select on the title screen for easy access to certain scenes
This project is based on the novel, A Little Princess, by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
Prior knowledge to Burnett's story is recommended, but this work is intended to be a self-contained and complete experience.

Note on fair use: this story borrows a small portion of prose found in A Little Princess in order to reinterpret it and reveal alternative perspectives. In addition to being an academic assignment, this project is intended to be transformative. It is not intended to infringe on the copyrighted work, and I encourage purchasing or reading the original work by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
